   Taking Your Power Back

The summer solstice is on June 21st this month.  The energy that comes with such a wonderful shift creates an extremely powerful time for us to rid ourselves of old pains and hurts.  Energies (thoughts and feelings) may be pulled to the surface for you to release.  It’s important to do just that, release them, instead of holding on to them when they come up.  When old fear habits keep arising, causing havoc to yourself and those around you, it’s because you are giving your power to the fear and it is taking your power from you.  Instead of allowing negative thoughts to dictate your feelings and thus creating negative experiences, STOP the cycle in its tracks.  Recognize that this habit or negative thought pattern, is coming up as a gift, to show you what needs to be released. 

Take that "fear mongers" power away by:

#1   Not judging it as a “bad” thing or that you are a “bad” person to be thinking or feeling the way you are.

#2  Thank it for showing you what you need to release from your energy and thank it for the lessons you have learned from it. 

#3   Talk to it.  Tell it that it no longer has power over you and that you are moving on, without it.  Fearful thoughts run rampant when they think they have control over you.  The moment you say “enough is enough” and look into the face of your fearful thoughts (which are creating habit forming patterns), you take its power away!

#4   Write it out.  Get a piece of paper and scribble out words really big with feeling and the intention to get out the old.  You may want to start with these words, “Goodbye old fear, you no longer serve me and I am done with you.  I am taking back my power”.  Feel the energy leave your body, mind and spirit as you release through the powerful energy of writing. 

#5    Rejoice!  Feel the lightness in yourself and in the air, feel your shoulders drop and tension release.  Go for a walk, dance or jump around!  Be proud of yourself for letting go of the things that, though they hurt you, still were a part of you and felt familiar and even comfortable in a way.

 

Recognize that you are powerful and that you can do this process anytime you feel an old fear monger come up.  Just be willing to let it go, simply set the intention and move forward from there.  Remember that, YOU DON’T HAVE TO BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU THINK!  Just because you think something, it doesn’t mean that it’s true.  You get to choose your thoughts! And for the negative thoughts that are coming up so fast, almost automatic because they are a habit that you have created…these are the thoughts you don’t have to believe!  Every time you recognize this and start thinking in a more loving way, by replacing negative thoughts with the positive, you start creating positive automatic thought patterns. You are re-programming your brain!  Keeping all of this in mind will help you take back your power from fear based thoughts. 

Don’t wait!  Don’t wait till you’re feeling better or in a joyful place to do any of this work.  I encourage you to do it when it is the hardest.  Just like with physical exercise, it’s best not to wait until you have energy to exercise, because exercise is the very thing that will give you more energy.  Your body then becomes stronger and stronger with every movement.  The same stands true for these mental/emotional/spiritual exercises.  The more you do it, the better you get at it and the stronger you become.  Also, the energy you will have back after releasing negative thought patterns will be felt on every level.  We are not always aware of how physically draining negative thinking and emotional upset can be.  The more shifting you do, the more you will see how uplifting positive thinking and emotional lightness can be.  What a gift!
