A New Year...A New You! by Lisa Brooks | ||||
January, 2008 This is a new year and another grand opportunity to create a new you!!! You may have a fresh start at any point you choose. There is freedom and comfort in knowing this. However, the transition of leaving a year behind and embracing a new one is a wonderful, magical time to embrace the new…YOU! Our world is shifting from one year to the next. As a planet we leave behind 2007, what are you leaving behind with it? If you could program a new you, what would you put in? What would you take out? Just like with your computer, you get rid of old files that are taking up space and slowing it down. Or when cleaning out your closet, you get rid of the things that are making clutter and causing you to waste more energy, as you have to filter through the clutter to get to what you’re really looking for.
TAKE ACTION: Get out paper and a pen…or poster board and markers! You are creating a new you! (This is the time to be your own best friend, to be honest with yourself and to practice a bit of “tough love”.) What old programs do you want to “delete” or “throw out”? What old habits are keeping you from obtaining your hearts desires? What behaviors are causing you to feel misery and discomfort, thus creating blocks that are keeping you from a life filled with happiness and ease? Any of this old baggage is just weighing you down and sucking your energy from you. The amazing divine energy…the life force, that you are gifted with every day can be used to your advantage or you can allow it to be sucked away by negative thoughts, words and actions. Remember, if you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten. If there are things that you have been doing to cause upset in your life….try a new approach, who knows, you may just find what you’re looking for. If something’s not working, you’ve got to try something new. That’s how you learn what works and what doesn’t. There is power in knowing what doesn’t work and what doesn’t feel good. Because now you know what not to do! So, write out what you’re leaving behind, get it out of your system. Then write out with power and confidence and the knowing that you create your world…and what you want. You are re-creating yourself, so how do you want to think, talk, feel and act? Also, think of all the wonderful things about yourself that you want to keep in the new year and that you may want to “enhance” in some way.
Here is a wonderful quote to write out and really ponder on and take to heart:
“You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully.
Also, this quote is something to think about after you have set your intentions for the “new you”: “For changes to be of any true value, they've got to be lasting and consistent.” This is also a great mantra that you could use when you feel yourself reverting to the “old you” or when you feel yourself pulling out that old baggage….because even though its old and no longer serves you, it may have been a part of you for so long that its all you know. But, you get to decide if it has power over you and your life today or not. You get to decide if it is part of the new you that you are creating.
Good luck in creating a new you! I wish you much fun and lightness with this process. As you leave old baggage behind, may your shoulders drop a few inches, may your spine straighten with confidence and grace and …may all of your hearts desires come true!!! Here's to your best year ever!
